SFI(A) CL65 First Delivery

This training concerns pilots who wish to act as SFI(A) (Synthetic Flight Instructor) CL65.

Objectives

The aim of this course is to equip the applicant with the necessary assets to ensure a sufficient grasp of theoretical knowledge and various techniques adapted to ground and simulator training, enabling them to assume the privileges of a SFI(A) rating CL65. The applicant receives training in basic teaching methods, which is implemented during briefings, debriefings, and simulator sessions.

Prerequisites

Any applicant for a first SFI(A) certificate must:

  • Hold or have held a CPL, MPL or ATPL in the appropriate aircraft category.,
  • Have completed the proficiency check for the issue of the specific aircraft type rating in an FFS representing the applicable type, within the 12 months preceding the application,
  • At least 1,500 hours flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes, as applicable.,
  • Have completed, as a pilot or as an observer, within the 12 months preceding the application, at least:
    • 3 route sectors on the flight deck of the applicable aircraft type; Or
    • Two line-orientated flight training-based simulator sessions conducted by qualified flight crew on the flight deck of the applicable type. These simulator sessions shall include two flights of at least two hours each between two different aerodromes, and the associated pre-flight planning and de-briefing.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

Teaching and learning: 25:00

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Revision of technical knowledge, the preparation of lesson plans and the development of classroom/simulator instructional skills: 13:00 (for 2 trainees)

SIMULATOR TRAINING

Full Flight Simulator (FFS): 24:00 (for 2 trainees)
FFS: 18:00 (for 1 trainee)

TOTAL DAYS OF TRAINING

10 days (excluding the assessment of competence, AoC)

ASSESSMENT OF COMPETENCE (AoC)

TThe applicant will have to perform, under the supervision of a TRE(A) or a SFE(A), 3 hours of Full Flight Simulator training for the type rating of the aircraft concerned, in compliance with AMC1 FCL.935.
