Company History

Icare was created in 1991 at Morlaix in order to provide training schemes for the pilots, cabin crew and maintenance technicians employed by its parent company - the airline BRIT AIR - (part of the AIR FRANCE Group).
Icare took delivery of its ATR 42/72 simulator in 1991.

Anticipating the new European legislation governing air transport and, in particular, training, ICARE was the first aeronautical training centre to be granted T.R.T.O. (Type Rating Training Organisation) status.

Responding in this way not only to the requirements of Brit Air but all regional airlines operating the ATR 42, from the outset more than 50% of the business activity involved external clients.
The affiliation with an airline company means that the Company is fully aware of the various professions and constraints and the quality of a full team of training personnel has ensured that clients are won over and retained..
As a result, the Company has to remain at the forefront of training innovation, adapting to the special needs of each new operator and striving to provide a personalised service, in the technical sector as well as in terms of ancillary services, such as accommodation and catering.

Since the beginning, the ingredients of success can be summarised in one phrase: a group of people at the service of the Client.

  • One of the first IATA-approved centres in France in 2003
  • Granted approval for aeronautical maintenance training courses (Part 147) in 2003.
